QVE PRESENTS: FACE TO THE WIND 2

Join the Quintessential Vocal Ensemble (QVE) as they kick off their 30th Anniversary season with a very special concert: Face to the Wind 2. 

The performance will include several newly commissioned choral arrangements of works by local songwriters Dolores Hynes, and the late Ron Hynes.

March 25 is also the day the WWF will celebrate Earth Hour, when millions of people around the world join in raising awareness of the nature crises facing our planet.

In keeping with the tradition, QVE will go "lights out" at 8:30 to perform a thematic set of songs centering around Earth, Sea, and Sky.

The choir will also be joined by special guest artist, Jackie Sullivan to close out the show.

Tickets are $35 each (HST Included), 10% discount for Rooms Members. Space is limited so please ensure you purchase your ticket online or by calling 757-8090.

Doors open at 7:15 pm. There is bee a cash bar on site.

A QUINTESSENTIAL CHRISTMAS

Let’s try this again, shall we?

Join us Dec 18 for A Quintessential Christmas! After cancelling just hours before in 2021 due to the pandemic, we are thrilled to share with you seasonal favourites from Rachmaninoff to Ron Hynes and Gordon Lightfoot. And of course, all of QVE’s signature Christmas tunes!

We have some very special guests joining our show this year, including O Holy Night guest soloist Darrin Martin.

QVE PRESENTS: FACE TO THE WIND

We are back!

QVE is thrilled to present its long-awaited return to live performance. “Face to the Wind” is a choral tribute to the people and songs of the Southern Shore. This concert will mark the premiere of newly commissioned arrangements of three Ron Hynes pieces: “Away” and “Atlantic Blue” arranged by QVE’s own Jack Etchegary and "Godspeed" arranged by QVE's Rob Pittman. Please join us “up the shore” with our special guest, John Curran, to celebrate the musical heritage of this historic region.

 

The Town of Ferryland also invites you to come early and celebrate “Ferryland Day” at the Town Square. There will be an artisan/farmers market, art & craft sale, food trucks, and of course more live music!

Glow

Introducing... Glow - A Quintessential Christmas!

Join us on Sunday December 15th at Mary Queen of Peace church at 7:30pm in a musical celebration of the most wonderful time of the year. Featuring works by Ola Gjeilo, Eric Whitacre, Kathleen Allan, and many holiday favourites! With special guest Maria Lacey singing O Holy Night, this will be a very special way to ring in the christmas cheer.

Sing! Sing! Sing!

A celebration of large-ensemble jazz, folk and pop music, featuring Jazz East Big Band and QVE Ventus.

For the first time ever, two of St. John’s longest running and finest large ensembles come together to perform a special program of classic and contemporary works for SATB Choir and Big Band. Featuring works by Bob Mintzer, Stevie Wonder, Phil Nimmons, and even TOTO, QVE Ventus and Jazz East Big Band will deliver an uplifting program that truly has something for everyone.

Led by two of Newfoundland and Labrador’s most celebrated, award-winning conductors, Susan Quinn and Bill Brennan, it is an evening not to be missed. This concert is the third in a series of concerts presented by First Light Centre for Performance and Creativity. In the spirit of community music-making, this event is suitable for all ages, and in an accessible venue.

Join us for QVE’s annual Kitchen Party, this year being held at the Swilers Complex on Crosbie Rd!

Woman of the Island

Celebrate Mother's Day with the Quintessential Vocal Ensemble!

Woman of the Island, our featured piece by Dolores Hynes of Calvert, NL, speaks of the remarkable strength and courage of the women of our province. You will hear a first ever arrangement of this piece by QVE's very own Jack Etchegary.

A special treat this year, we will be performing Ola Gjeilo’s mystical and inspiring work "The Lake Isle" based on the poem by Irish poet W.B. Yeats scored for choir, guitar, piano and string quartet.

This concert features the award-winning Quintessential Vocal Ensemble choirs, Ventus and Aquae and numerous beautiful intrumentals.

A Quintessential Christmas

Join the award-winning Quintessential Vocal Ensemble choirs for what is sure to be a holiday highlight this Christmas season!

 

Featuring over 100 voices, with instrumentals, and many special guests, including rising star, Noelle Slaney as our O Holy Night soloist and Siochana’s Darrin Feehan for a rendition of the Newfoundland classic, “Christmas in the Harbour”.

70's Hit Liszt

Join us Friday, November 2 at D.F. Cook Recital Hall for a 70's Hit 'Liszt' Concert Fundraiser. We will celebrate Art Rock's fascination with Classical Music, with performances in both genres. This event features incredible musicians, and we're thrilled to collaborate with Music at Memorial and Public Engagement at Memorial University to offer this event.

Wales in the Harbour

Join Quintessential Vocal Ensemble at St. George's Anglican Church in Petty Harbour for "Wales in the Harbour".

Hear the nearly 60 voices of QVE before they travel to Wales, UK for the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod – one of the oldest and most prestigious choral competitions in the world.

The newly-named choirs of QVE – Aquae and Ventus – as well as 6-part a cappella group, Afterglow, will compete in four different categories against choirs from South Africa, Singapore, Germany, Poland, the United States, and more! Come hear the nearly 20 pieces that we have prepared for competition, and support choral singing in Newfoundland and Labrador of the highest calibre.

We are also delighted that many local businesses in the town of Petty Harbour-Maddox Cove will be supporting us by offering special discounts from the day of the event up until July 1st for ticket holders:
