QVE presents a 30 minute program with an emphasis on Canadian and American works, including the world premiere of "As On Wings" by Canadian composer Leonard Enns, commissioned by QVE to remember the lasting bonds made after thousands of air travellers were diverted and forced to seek refuge on the shores of Newfoundland and Labrador during the tragedy of 9/11. The program will also include "Searston Beach" by St. John's native and QVE alumna Kathleen Allan, commissioned by QVE in 2012 as a setting of poetry by the late Newfoundland writer and playwright Al Pittman.
In addition to the solo program, QVE is honoured to be part of the New York City premiere of To Be Certain of the Dawn with massed choir and the New England Symphonic Ensemble under the direction of Dr. William Wyman. This acclaimed oratorio by American composer Stephen Paulus was written in 2005 to mark the 60th anniversary of the end of the Holocaust and share a vision of true reconciliation and cooperation between people of all faiths.
As an independent producer of classical concerts, MidAmerica Productions presents soloists and choral and instrumental organizations from around the world in New York's Carnegie Hall, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, and Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall.
